Ever had someone tell you to “just” let it go? It’s not that simple at all. But, we can learn to not live in “it”, like it’s still happening right now. We can learn to comfort ourselves and get grounded in the present. It doesn’t erase trauma or anxiety, but to whatever degree we can remember that it’s not happening now, and be present now, it means that little by little we are learning that trite phrase in real time, in real life.
